Instagram Highlights are the little circles under someone's bio — a travel trip, a product launch, a run of behind-the-scenes clips — that stay put long after the original Stories would have vanished. If you want to keep one, Instagram gives you no download button, and the built-in save only works on your own Stories.

A proper Instagram highlights downloader solves that. This guide explains what Highlights really are, how to save a whole tray in one go, and how to get each slide onto your camera roll — all in the browser, with no app and no login.

What Are Instagram Highlights?

A Highlight is simply a set of archived Stories. A normal Story disappears after 24 hours, but Instagram lets a user pin the ones they want to keep into a named collection — shown as a round cover under their bio. Tap a cover and it plays back exactly like a Story: a sequence of full-screen photo and video slides, each usually a few seconds long.

Because a Highlight is a tray of many slides, "downloading a Highlight" really means saving every slide inside it. A single Highlight can hold dozens of items, and a busy creator might have ten or more Highlights on their profile. That is why saving them one screen-record at a time is such a chore — and why a tool that grabs the whole tray matters.

Why Download a Highlight?

Highlights are where the good stuff outlives the 24-hour window, so there are plenty of honest reasons to keep a copy:

💾 Backing up your own before a rebrand

About to reorganize or delete your Highlights? Pull the whole tray as clean files first, so nothing is lost when you tidy up your profile.

🛍️ Saving a brand's product Highlights

Product demos, size guides, and FAQ Highlights are useful references — keep them offline instead of scrubbing through the tray each time.

✈️ Keeping a friend's travel or event tray

A trip or wedding Highlight is a little album. Save it to your camera roll so it is yours even if they take it down later.

🎬 Creators reusing their best moments

Repurpose past Story clips into a Reel or a recap without re-recording — start from the original files in your Highlight.

Highlights vs Stories: What's the Difference?

They are the same media under the hood — the difference is how long it lives and where it sits:

If what you actually want is a live Story that is about to expire, the clock matters more — see our guide on how to save a story before it expires. For a Highlight, there is no rush: it stays on the profile until the owner takes it down.

How to Download an Entire Highlight

1

Copy the Profile or Highlight Link

Open the profile that has the Highlight. Tap the ••• menu (or the share arrow) and choose "Copy Link". On desktop, copy the URL from the address bar while the Highlight is open. Either link tells the tool which tray to read.

2

Paste It Into the Highlights Saver

Open the Instagram story and highlights saver and paste the link. SnapDown reads the Highlight server-side and lists every slide inside it, so you can see the full set before you save.

3

Download All the Slides

Choose Download all to grab the whole tray — photos as JPG and videos as MP4, each in its original quality — or pick individual slides if you only want a few. That is how you download all the stories in a highlight without recording your screen.

Save an Instagram Highlight to Your Camera Roll

Downloading gets the files onto your device; moving them into Photos or Gallery takes one more tap, and it differs by phone:

iPhone & iPad

Save in Safari and the slides land in Files → Downloads. Open a file, tap the Share icon, and choose Save Video or Save Image to move it into your camera roll. No shortcut or app is needed on iOS 13 or later.

Android

In Chrome, saved slides drop into your Downloads folder and usually appear in Google Photos or Gallery on their own. If one does not show up, open the Files app and tap it once so the gallery indexes it.

Your Own Highlights vs Someone Else's

For your own Highlights, Instagram already lets you re-save the underlying Stories from Settings, but a downloader is far quicker when you want the whole tray as clean files at once — handy before you delete a Highlight or switch accounts. For someone else'spublic Highlights, a tool is the only practical route, since Instagram gives followers no save button. Either way the process is the same: paste the link, download the tray. Just keep other people's Highlights for personal reference rather than re-posting them as your own.

Saving a whole profile rather than one tray? The Instagram bulk downloader grabs up to 50 posts at once, and for the complete picture across reels, stories, photos, and carousels, start from the pillar guide on how to download from Instagram.

Honest Limits Worth Knowing

  • Public profiles only. If an account is private, its Highlights are protected and the downloader cannot reach them unless you are an approved follower.
  • Each slide is a separate item. A Highlight of 30 slides downloads as 30 files — expect a small batch, not one long video.
  • Licensed music stays owned. Video slides keep their audio, but any track still belongs to its rights holder, so keep saves personal.
  • Quality matches the source. Stories are recorded for phone screens, so most slides are vertical and phone-resolution — the tool gives you the original, not an upscaled version.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Instagram Highlight?

A Highlight is a collection of old Stories that a user has pinned to their profile so they don't disappear after 24 hours. Each Highlight sits under the bio as a round cover and can hold many individual story slides.

Can I download a whole highlight at once?

Yes. Paste the profile or Highlight link and SnapDown pulls every slide in that Highlight tray — photos and videos — so you save the entire set in one go instead of one story at a time.

How do I save an Instagram Highlight to my camera roll?

Download the Highlight with SnapDown, then on your phone open each file and save it. On iPhone use Share then Save Video or Save Image; on Android the files usually appear in your Gallery automatically from the Downloads folder.

Can I download someone else's Highlights?

You can download Highlights from any public profile. If the account is private, you would need to be an approved follower, and the tool cannot reach that content.

Will they know I saved their Highlight?

No. Unlike viewing a live Story, downloading a Highlight through a separate tool is anonymous — the account owner gets no notification and your name never appears on a viewer list.

Do Highlights keep their music and audio?

Video slides keep their original audio, including any music. Remember that licensed tracks still belong to the rights holder, so keep saved Highlights for personal, offline use.
